Wiener Symphonikers Prater Picnic 2024

The Vienna Symphony Orchestra – Wiener Symphoniker in German – invites you once again to an open-air concert in front of the spectacular backdrop of the Wiener Riesenrad! The concert is the second so-called Prater Picnic and will take place on Thursday, June 27th and Friday, June 28th, 2024. Up to 5,000 visitors can join the concert and take a seat on their picnic blankets in front of the stage. So just pack everything you need for a cozy picnic evening and come by on time!

Under the musical direction of Dirk Kaftan, soprano Annette Dasch, baritone Georg Nigl, and Viennese singer-songwriter Julian Le Play will take you on a musical journey this year. You can find details and background information about the Wiener Symphoniker at wienersymphoniker.at. For all sofa surfers, the concert will also be broadcasted on Austrian TV station ORF2 on June 28th.

FAQs

Admission to the Prater Picnic is free. Can I just come?
Admission starts at 17:00 o’clock and the first 5,000 people will be admitted to the concert area. So make sure you arrive a bit early.

What can I bring to the Prater Picnic?
All visitors are invited to bring their own picnic blankets and filled picnic baskets. There will also be picnic blankets and drinks available for purchase on site. (Camping) chairs and other furniture are not allowed.

What infrastructure is there on site?
As with any large public event, there will be toilet containers. There will be drinks available to purchase and at the Wiener Symphoniker stand you can buy picnic blankets and merchandise.

What happens in case of bad weather?
The concert will take place even in case of inclement weather. For the safety of all, the concert will be cancelled in case of serious storm.

Is there a platform for visitors with disabilities?
Yes, the platform is located near the Red Cross tent.
