May 1st Celebrations 2026
Labor Day is celebrated on May 1st in Austria since 1890. In Vienna, this holiday is accompanied by various May rallies and entertainment hotspots. In the Prater, the celebration on May 1st is traditionally called the Maifest. Of course, many attractions in the Wurstelprater join the celebrations and offer you great discounts on this day.
Maifest Highlights
On the 📍Kaiserwiese, you are offered a wild mix of entertainment on and off the main stage. For the first time, Special Olympics Austria will also be present with sports stations and information about the National Summer Games 2026 in Vienna.

The AFC Vienna Vikings will also be present at Maifest. At the 📍Rondeau in the middle of the Prater amusement park, they offer you the opportunity to learn about and try out flag football, tackle football, and cheerleading.

Vienna’s Helpers on the Hauptallee
Quite traditionally, there will also be a performance show and information stands by Vienna’s aid and emergency organisations on the 📍Prater Hauptallee.
