Lichtblicke 2025

Until October 30, 2025, you can combine action with art at the Wurstelprater and marvel at Lichtblicke, an open-air gallery. The 34 large-format works, awarded as part of the Vienna State Prize for Professional Photography 2025 and the Young Talent Competition 2025, impressively demonstrate what Vienna's professional photographers currently have to offer. The photographs reflect the creative breadth of the industry – among other things, atmospheric nature shots, expressive portraits, exciting reportages, emotional wedding moments, and digitally created image worlds will be shown in the "AI Fusion Photography" category, which is being included in the competition for the first time this year.

The Lichtblicke exhibition offers you the opportunity to be inspired by professional photography up close and at the same time serves as a statement: it is a deliberate counterpoint to the flood of images in everyday digital life and proves that professional photography has lost none of its relevance even in the age of smartphone cameras.

About the Competition

A panel of experts selected the top three works in each of the ten competition categories from the numerous submissions. In addition to established professionals, young photographers are also represented – with the best works from the Young Talents competition, in which photography apprentices and young photographers participated. The result: 34 impressive winning images from 10 categories and two young talent competitions.
