May 1st Celebrations 2026

Labor Day is celebrated on May 1st in Austria since 1890. In Vienna, this holiday is accompanied by various May rallies and entertainment hotspots. In the Prater, the celebration on May 1st is traditionally called the Maifest. Of course, many attractions in the Wurstelprater join the celebrations and offer you great discounts on this day.

On the Kaiserwiese, visitors are offered a wild mix of entertainment on and off the main stage.

Vienna’s Helpers on the Hauptallee

Quite traditionally, there will also be a performance show and information stands by Vienna’s aid and emergency organisations on the Prater Hauptallee. Presenting themselves Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund, Die Helfer Wiens, Johanniter, Malteser, Gesundheitsdienst der Stadt Wien (MA 15), Hygienezentrum (MA 15), Abfallberatung der MA 48, Marktamt (MA 59), Österreichischer Versuchssenderverband, Sofortmaßnahmen und Stadtservice, Verein Puls, Wiener Linien, Wiener Rotes Kreuz und WiG
